Overland Tour From Lhasa Shigatse Everest EBC to Tingri & Zhangmu for Nepal Tour Code:T-B0801E

Route: Chengdu-Lhasa-Shigatse-Tingri-Zhangmu-border between China and Nepal
Attractions: in Lhasa visit
the Stone Giant Buddha, the world famous Potala Palace, Sera monastery, Drepung Monastery, Nobulinka, next go to Shigatse by the way of Lake Yamdrok and Tibetan Plateau, then go to Tingri town and explore of Everest Base for Camp, then drive to Zhangmu for visiting Nayalam, lastly go to the border of China and Nepal. 

Itinerary

Day 01: Chengdu-Lhasa

Meet at Chengdu airport in the morning, then fly to Lhasa. When arrive at Lhasa Gongar airport, the local guide will pick up you and drive you to Lhasa city, and visit the Stone Giant Buddha en route. In the afternoon firstly we will have a rest and recovery in this high altitude area. And overnight in Lhasa. (L/D)

 

Day 02: Lhasa

Today, our tour will be started with the world famous Potala Palace (excluded entry fee of sightseeing). And we must get up at about 8:00 am, after breakfast drive to there. The Potala Place was built in 7th century during the Tang Dynasty for King Songtsan Gambo's wife Princess Wencheng. We will finish out visit at about 12:30, after using lunch drive back to hotel have a rest. At approximate 15:00 drive to Jokhang Temple ( the most famous and oldest building in Lhasa), Barkhore Street ( the business center of Lhasa), having a general idea for Tibetan culture and life. Lastly, at about 18:00 take the supper. The whole day's tour ends. And overnight in Lhasa. (B/L/D)

 

Day 03: around Lhasa

Today we will visit Sera monastery, Drepung Monastery, Nobulinka, and overnight in Lhasa.
Drepung Monastery lies in west of Lhasa under Mt. Gambo Utse, clustered round by the black mountain, its white grand buildings shining under the sunlight. Built in 1416, it is considered as one of the largest monasteries in the six principle monasteries of Gelu Sect in China. Drepung Monastery used to be the living palace of Dalai Lamas before the reconstruction of Potala palace (after the 5th Dalai Lamas was bestowed by Qing emperor Qianlong).
And Sera monastery is known as one of the three greatest monasteries of Tibet. As one of the three main monasteries of Lhasa, it is here that the monks "famous daily debates" take place.
Otherwise, Norbulingka, meaning Treasure Park, was first built in the forties of the eighteenth century, covering a space of 40 hectares after continuous expansion by the Dalai Lamas.

 

Day 04: Lhasa-Shigatse

We will go through the turquoise Lake Yamdrok on the vast Tibetan Plateau. Yamdrok Lake situated in Lhoka area with an cover of 621 square km and the elevation of 4,441 m is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. Also it is the largest lake on the northern slope of the Himalayas. On the way we can enjoy wonderful sightseeing and take pictures. Lastly we will arrive at  Shigatse by new road. (B/L/D)

 

Day 05: Shigatse-Tingri
Drive to Tingri (the old one) for night. (B/L/D)

Tingri is a town in southern Tibet. It is in Tingri County, Shigatse Prefecture with a population of around 523. It is often used as a base by mountain climbers preparing to ascend Mount Everest or Cho Oyu.

 

Day 06: Tingri
Drive to Mt. Everest Nature Reserve (Rhongbuk monastery), visit the Rongbuk Monastery located at the north face of Mt. Everest, and at an elevation of 5,100m. It is the highest monastery in the world, only 20kms to the summit. And we will explore around EBC and Rongbuk Monastery, last to Tingri or Lhatse for night. (B/L/D, ready-food for lunch)

 

Day 07: Tingri-Zhangmu
Drive to Zhangmu for night, and make a visiting in Nyalam town on the way. (B/L/D)
Nyalam is a small Tibetan town near the Nepal border. It is 35 km from Zhangmu town in the same county, which is the point of entry of Nepal. Nyalam is situated at 3,750 m above sea level. A town of stone building and tin roofs, it is nickmaned "The Gate of Hell" by the Nepalese trader because the trail between Nyalam and the Nepalese border was so treacherous to negotiate.

 

Day 08: to border between China and Nepal
Drive to the border of China and Nepal, see off at the Friendship bridge after breakfast. (B)

Quotation

Included: Meals marked, single way a'ticket of Chengdu-Lhasa, transfers and transportation in Tibet, guide service, permit to Tibet, entrance fee for sightseeing, accommodation.

Accommodation: hostel in Tingri/Zhangmu and Yangpachen area; 3stars hotel arranged in Lhasa and Shigatse for standard service, 2* hotel arranged in Lhasa and Shigatse for economic service.

Excluded: sleeping bag, personal usage, a'port tax, tips, additional cost may caused by force uncontrolled from god.

Minimum passengers: 2 tourists.

We can make hotel reservation for your in Chengdu, such as Lhasa Giant Hotel or Jinhe hotel(3stars) at rate of 46USD/room/night.
